Sustainable development has been a matter of great importance for international development for many years especially since the 1980s.  Similarly, global interest in issues of sustainable energy has grown over the past two decades.  This course is designed to enable participants to have a firm grasp of the various meanings of sustainable development (SD) and sustainable energy at individual, local and global levels.  It will also enable participants to apply/enforce the principles associated with the various aspects sustainable energy at local, regional and global level.

Outcomes

  1. Apply the principles of SD and sustainable energy in both professional settings and everyday life
  2. Assess the challenges and threats of resource sustainability to society,
  3. Play a leadership and advocacy role in issues of sustainability
  4. Analyze the significance of the transition from MDGs to SDGs relative to SD and sustainable energy
