Dr Thimothy Thamae has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University, Canada. He is a Senior Lecturer at the National University of Lesotho
(NUL) Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology where he teaches
Chemical Technology courses. An innovation enthusiast, he is the
co-founder and coordinator of NUL Innovations Committee (NULIC) which
oversees the activities of the NUL Innovation Hub. He also leads a team
developing the proposed NUL School of Engineering.
He has a
wide variety of research interests including development of low-cost
energy efficient stoves, engineered stones, ceramic materials, natural
fiber composites and recycling of waste materials. His work at the NUL
Innovation Hub includes development of concrete products, soaps and
machines that manufacture the same. He is a Principal investigator in a variety of large research projects including the development
of engineered stone tiles using sand stones from Lesotho’s Molteno and
Clarens formations and the development of ‘Mamathe Wonderland Tourism
project.
