Clean Mobility For Lesotho
Transforming transport through solar-powered e-mobility, empowering communities, and tackling climate change.
About The Project
MaZero is a collaborative project aimed at piloting renewable energy-based e-mobility to curb greenhouse gas emissions and address other challenges, such as escalating traffic arising from intensifying urbanization in Southern African countries, necessitating immediate global action against climate change. The project innovates a scalable concept for RE-based e-mobility, including sustainable battery charging/swapping stations, a first in Lesotho. Success in Lesotho could serve as a replicable model for Southern African cities, boosting e-mobility efforts.
Installation of a reliable and assisted charging infrastructure at NUL, Roma, and IEMS campuses, and deployment of e-car and scooters, adopting the battery swapping business model, and establishment of a smart and open access online RE-based e-mobility information dissemination platform.
Facilitates inclusivity and skills development of local stakeholders, ensuring gender mainstreaming and empowerment
Fosters networking of major energy and climate stakeholders, including capacity building and information sharing
Undertaking a feasibility study on capital and national level or upscaling e-mobility concept and supporting future roadmap development
