Energy Youth Pitso 2026: Youth Voices Shaping Lesotho’s Energy Future

The future of energy in Lesotho is increasingly being shaped by its young people.

On 24 March 2026, the inaugural Energy Youth Pitso was convened at Hokahanya Inn and Conference Centre (Kick4Life), bringing together students, young professionals, and emerging leaders to engage directly with the realities of the energy sector.

Convened by the Energy Research Centre – National University of Lesotho and supported by the Renewable Lesotho Initiative through GET.invest, the Pitso marked an important step in creating structured platforms for youth participation in Lesotho’s energy transition.

Grounded Dialogue and Practical Engagement

The discussions reflected the lived experiences of young people navigating the sector. Conversations explored pathways into employment, the realities of entrepreneurship, access to finance, and the broader question of inclusion within the energy landscape.

Rather than abstract exchanges, the dialogue focused on practical challenges and emerging opportunities, allowing participants to engage critically and constructively.

From Dialogue to Contribution

A key outcome of the Pitso was the development of clear, youth-informed priorities. These contributions will be carried forward into the Lesotho Energy Access Dialogue 2026, ensuring that youth perspectives are reflected in ongoing discussions on policy, investment, and implementation.

A Platform for the Future

The Energy Youth Pitso establishes a foundation for continued engagement between young people and the broader energy ecosystem.

It reflects a growing recognition that meaningful participation is essential to building a responsive, inclusive, and sustainable energy sector.

As Lesotho advances its energy transition, platforms such as this will play a critical role in ensuring that the next generation is equipped, engaged, and actively contributing to the sector’s development.
