The Energy Research Centre at the National University of Lesotho – Official (ERC-NUL) boosts Solar Thermal Systems development in Lesotho.
The ERC successfully hosted a specialized training programme for energy professionals and solar thermal systems installers from 26–29 May 2026, with support from Southern African Solar Thermal Training & Demonstration Initiative (SOLTRAIN)+.
The training combined classroom sessions with site visits and system inspections, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with renewable heating and cooling technologies and energy efficiency practices in real-world settings.
Participants explored topics ranging from solar thermal system applications, feasibility assessments, system design and dimensioning, and energy auditing methodologies, incorporating practical examples from local industries and hospitality establishments.
Through the SOLTRAIN+ initiative, ERC-NUL continues to support the development of technical capacity and professional expertise required to advance sustainable energy solutions in Lesotho. The ERC also continues to support local industries and commercial buildings with free energy audits and recommendations for energy saving.
